Privacy policy

Your email address (to sign you in - there are no passwords), the name you go by in an album, the photos you or your family add, and the answers your family gives about them: names, dates, places, occasions, notes, and voice recordings. That’s the product. We also keep ordinary service logs (like sign-in events) to keep accounts safe.

Only to run ShareView for your family: showing the album to the people its owner invited, matching faces privately inside your own album, estimating photo dates, sending the album emails you control, and processing payments. No third-party ads, ever. No selling or renting your information, ever. Your photos and answers are never used to train AI models.

Face matching runs only inside your family’s album. Nothing is sold, nothing trains AI, and your whole archive leaves with you any time, free.

In practice: ShareView looks for the same face across your own album’s photos, never across families. What it finds is only ever a suggestion - a person in your family confirms every name, and no name is applied by software on its own. The first time you add photos, a card asks your permission before your photos join face matching, and “not now” is a real answer that still saves what you added. You can take a name off any face from the album’s Face tags screen, and deleting a photo, or your whole account, deletes its face data with it.

To find photos by meaning, the words of written answers and notes are read by a search helper. When an outside reading service helps with this, it works under terms that do not let it use your family’s words to teach its systems, and that require it to erase them after a short holding period. Your photos never go to it - only words. What you type in the search box is used only to find your photos, and we never save it.

If you choose “Google Photos” in the upload window, you pick photos inside Google’s own picker. We receive only the photos you pick - never your library, never anything else in your Google account. Those photos are copied into your ShareView album at full quality (including their dates) and are then treated exactly like any photo you upload: stored for your album, visible only to the family members invited to it, deletable by you at any time. We do not share Google user data with anyone except the storage and database providers that host your album for us, and we never use it for advertising, never sell it, and never let humans read it except with your permission when you ask us for support, or when required for security or by law.

ShareView’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Photos are stored with Cloudflare (R2 storage) and account data with Supabase (database), both under contracts that bar them from doing anything with it besides storing it for us. Payments run through Stripe - we never see your card number. Emails send through Resend. These processors are the full list; nobody else touches your data.

The public pages that introduce ShareView - like the homepage, the gift page, the sign-in page, and this privacy page - use Google Analytics, a counting tool from Google. We use it to see how many people visit those pages and which ones they read. Inside your family’s album there is no Google Analytics: no third-party analytics ever sees your photos, your family’s words, or your album pages. The pages your family uses to join an album or add photos carry none of it either.

Only the people the album owner invites, at the access level the owner chooses. Share links you create for a single photo work for anyone holding the link for 7 days. Nothing is public unless you make it so.

Export everything, free, forever - originals byte-identical, answers written into the photo files and as CSV. Delete photos, answers, or your whole account whenever you like; deletion means deletion from the live service, with backups aging out on a short cycle. Every album email has controls to stop it. ShareView accounts are for grown-ups. You must be 18 or older to own an album or to accept an invitation to one. ShareView is not directed to children, and we never knowingly create an account for, or collect information from, anyone under 13. Photos of children of course belong in a family’s archive - it is the accounts and invitations that are for the adults who keep it. If you believe a child under 13 has an account here, tell us at support@getshareview.com and we will remove it. We are finalizing the exact age rules with counsel (COPPA in the US, and the higher floors some places set), and this section will follow their guidance.

If this policy changes in any way that matters, account owners get an email before it takes effect - and our five promises at Our Promises & Terms never weaken retroactively.
